The BTCA Health and Wellness Committee was formed in 2004 as an offshoot of the Health Survey Committee. This committee is currently composed of four members:

  • Lucy Heyman - Chair
  • Valerie Armstead, M.D.
  • June Cohron D.V.M.
  • Gabrielle Gilbeau
  • Sally Monroe M.D.
  • Paul Pruitt

The mission of the Health and Wellness Committee is to provide an information resource on health issues and communicate this information to the Club members. The Committee will also advise the Board on health issues and possible areas of health research on behalf of the Bedlington Terrier.

This section of the website will contain articles of interest and references in each major area of health and wellness. Committee members will also make themselves available for individual consult in their health areas as identified here.

The committee will also provide information of particular significance to the Bedlington Terrier as a regular column in Tassels & Tales. The first T&T article is the presentation of the announcement of the Animal Health Trust in England, of a new DNA test for Copper Toxicosis in Bedlington Terriers.
